In this post, I am exposing two useful and informative videos related to Biochemistry.
1. NIH VideoCast broadcasts seminars, conferences and meetings live to a world-wide audience over the Internet as a real-time streaming video.
2. Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) is a video journal for biological, medical, chemical and physical research indexed in PubMed.

Biochemistry is difficult to study
Many nutrition course students feel scared about biochemistry. Most of them, especially those from home science, and nutrition background feel worried about drawing structures.
There is no need to remember the structures of all the bio-molecules for students majoring in nutrition or nursing. If they can remember the names and the reactions it is sufficient. (What we call word equation - eg. glucose + ATP = glucose-6-phosphate) what they need to know is the fate of nutrients ingested; the location of the biochemical reaction of such nutrients inside a cell.
Learning the structures is important for students of pharmacology or pharmacy courses ( DPharm, BPharm, MPharm, MSc Pharmocology)
Biochemistry is not the only subject that is difficult ( if you feel it is difficult). And it doesn't mean that you pass in all other subjects and fail only in biochemistry. If such is the case, I can help anybody out of that. Just mail me.

What is in a name?
Can Biotechnology course be offered under a science stream ? I feel that the term technology is relevant only when offered under an engineering stream (BE or BTech). Therefore, the term Biotechnology is a misnomer in an arts and science college when offered as a BSc or MSc course.
I always get this doubt.
How can a technology degree be offered under a science stream ? this is also similar to MSc information technology course. Why should such "technology- labeled" degrees be offered under Science streams when the same is offered in engineering discipline also ?
There is something in the name " technology" . The name of the zoology course is changed to "Animal Biotechnology ..." and botany course is changed to "Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology". There is more glamour for the name than the subject.

Deos Biochemistry have future?
Does Biochemistry have future ? Is it losing popularity ? Does it have scope for jobs? Many lifescience subjects have branched off from Biochemistry, viz., molecular biology, nutrition, biotechnology etc. Each of them have become a separate branch with much deeper studies done in them.
Therefore, the question is - Is it true that Biochemistry is becoming extinct with its sister subjects taking the center stage? (Something like evolution of animals)
